About
Who is Bonnie McBeth?
The Bonnie McBeth Learning Center is named in honor of one of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202's distinguished learners and mentors. In collaboration with her colleagues, Mrs. McBeth pioneered as our first kindergarten teacher in 1951 and later introduced Reading Recovery to our elementary students. Following her retirement in 1994, Mrs. McBeth continued to dedicate herself to learning as a tutor and community volunteer. District 202 is honored to build on the foundation Mrs. McBeth and her colleagues established as it creates one of the premier preschool experiences in the nation dedicated to preparing young learners of all abilities for the future.
Our Facility
All of our dedicated and nurturing teachers are certified by the Illinois State Board of Education. Each of the integrated classrooms has a maximum of 16 students and is staffed with a certified teacher and a teacher's assistant. There are 10 general education students and up to 6 students with special needs in each classroom. Speech therapists, a social worker, a nurse, occupational therapists, physical therapists and vision and hearing itinerant teachers are also on staff. There are other specialized classrooms to serve students with unique needs.
