Fifth grade students at River View Elementary have the opportunity to apply for and participate in something called The Lunar Quest. This is organized by the Will County Aerospace Team and sponsered by the Will County Regional Office of Education. Students had to apply, have letters of reference, and be chosen by a panel of experts from the Challenger Learning Center. Once chosen, the students had to dedicate time to after school meetings, team building exercises and training that would allow them to participate in a virtual Lunar Qest at the Challenger Learning Center in Northwest Indiana.
Seventeen students from River View were chosen from their peers to participate in this project. Last weekend the students completed their Lunar Quest successfully, and were "welcomed" home with a Return to Earth Celebration. The evening consisted of introductions, speechs, a Q&A session with students and mission specialists, followed by light refreshments. We want to thank Mrs. Kim Winters and Mrs. Melissa Herth for their dedication and guidance through this process.
