Today was another great day to have 5th grade Outdoor Ed! Some students got to visit Orienteering with Mr McNabb and Mrs McKenna, and learned how to read and use a compass. Others got to go with a naturalist on a hunt for fungi and other living things. Another group brainstormed a group chant around the name of their animal group. Reports were very positive on day 2!

District 202 phones are fixed. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are aware of issues with our phones districtwide, specifically incoming calls and front door buzzers. We are working on the problem and will update you soon. Thanks for your patience.

Continuing with sharing some of the great activities our 5th graders got to experience as part of their Outdoor Ed experience! These stations were hiking through the woods with the naturalist and another station was learning about UV rays and making beaded bracelets that change with exposure to the sun!

Our 5th grade students participated in day one of three Outdoor Education days. One station is tie dying their shirts, to have something to remember the trip. One station is team building where students have to work together to achieve a goal!

Mrs Jackson from the Plainfield Public Library came to talk with Ms. Maltbys second grade classroom today. She read books about skeletons and spiders that the students really enjoyed!

Third graders went on a field trip to the bowling alley today to witness forces in motion from their most recent science unit. They had a great time and enjoyed showing off their skills!

River View FBI students enjoyed lunch at Raising Cane's on Friday. Our Functionally Based Instruction classroom provides learning opportunities in the community to work on communication and life skills that our students will need in the future. Our students even had a surprise visit from music teacher, Mr. K!

River view students were kicking off the Homecoming Spirit Week in style and comfort in their pajamas! What a great way to start the week off!

Our Movie Night on the Lawn is underway! It's a beautiful night to watch Kung Fu Panda 4 with a couple hundred friends! It's not too late to join us for this free event! We have concessions for purchase to help you enjoy your experience!

Students in our 4th grade classrooms have been learning about the various types of energy this quarter including electrical energy. Last week they learned about electric circuits and Thursday students had the opportunity to work in groups to build their own circuits using a battery, light bulb and wires. Each group successfully got their light bulb to light up!

Flags will be at half-staff today at all District 202 buildings in honor of Patriot Day. #neverforget911

🧲Third grade students in Mrs. Wolfe's class had fun exploration time with magnets today in class! The magnet unit is part of their science standards. This activity allowed students to make predictions about what magnets will/will not stick to and then they tested out their hypotheses! 🧲

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and excessive heat watch for our area until 8 p.m. Tuesday. District 202 uses the following guidelines on days with extremely hot and or humid weather:
• Recess/PE outdoors if the heat index is 90 degrees or below
• Recess/PE indoors if the heat index is above 95 degrees
The heat index takes into account both air temperature and relative humidity. If the heat index is between 91 degrees and 94 degrees principals can decide if students stay inside or go outdoors.
Afterschool sports
High and middle school athletic directors will communicate any changes to their communities. Please also watch middle and high school social media accounts for updates.

Picture Day is Coming! Mark your calendars for Thursday, Sept 5th!
